MadOwl is an independent sport studio based in London and Cologne. Their own first game Hex Defense, was recently released in the Google Engage in Store. It is out now on Android and iOS is to follow. MadOwl takes a tower-defense style sport for a spin…practically, and it works.
It is always useful to see what an impartial studio chooses to make as their first video game. MadOwl chose a genre that may be popular, but as well, there hasn’t been a lot of innovation with System Defense games for a while. I think they selected a perfect genre, since they chose to provide a unique twist to what we know and love about Tower Defense games. Every bit of activity, strategy and useful resource building that goes together with these types of games, continues to be well-implemented with Hex Defender, though with a simple rotating technician, Hex Defender changes every little thing.
“Hex Defender is a system defense game having a difference. With most podium defense games your turrets are placed and the placement of that specific turret has limitations. With Hex Defender the particular six turrets are rotatable all-around a hexagon. There are half a dozen colors to choose from on your turrets which will all be useful against six different colored enemy ships; red destroys crimson for example.” : MadOwl
I appreciate the science fiction environment for the game. Commander Crash has gathered the Crystal of Life from Global enemies. He is trying to return to Earth, whenever his warp travel fails. ?Now he must defend himself while still in opposing forces territory. The game’s narrative is told with simple wording and images. It brings you into the online game, and you are introduced to the main characters, and the part they will play through the game. You aviator a ship that has 6 turrets available to you, to help keep anyone alive. Complete chaos ensues, as you quickly learn how to command this kind of ship, to keep the actual enemies from stealing the Crystal connected with Life.
Brilliantly carrying your hexagon theme throughout the sport, there are six realms in the campaign manner. In each of those planets, are six amounts to play, so thirty-six levels. There is also an infinite/endless manner that you can play as well. There is quite a lot of recreation for a game that could cost you just over $1.00, and there are no in-app acquisitions. You can’t beat that these nights!
The game walks you thru how to play it by way of simple instruction solar panels. As is standard using tower defense game titles, when you destroy the actual enemy ships, you will get cash. The cash allows you to build and get some new towers. What makes the game a little more complex, can be picking the right tower, because you have to pick the right colour. The color of the podium is associated with the color of the enemy ships. Many people enemy will be going to you from all sides, which means you need to pay attention to the actual indicator that whizzes to tell you from where they can be coming, and what coloration. Hopefully you already have a turret built of the desired color. If you don’t, you’ll be able to rotate your send so that the corresponding turret tinted tower matches this ship to boost it out of the heavens. This makes the game enjoyable, challenging and full of strategy. You actually sense that you are commanding a speed boat and directing the actual end result of the battle. This may cause fans of Ender Wiggins rather proud.
The art route in Hex Defender is sweet. It is more than ideal for the game. The smooth panels that help explain to the story are taken extremely well. The in-game graphics have been scaled back again a bit. It gives the game a retro look without being outdated. Heavy graphics will not overwhelm the game. The action is about analyzing the battle, calculating the next move and successfully employing it. Out of the gate it may not be the easiest game, but improving inside battle is part of the joy of it.
Hex Defender will be integrated with Yahoo Game Play Services with 11 achievements to be able to unlock and leaderboards for you to compete on. To be a first game coming from MadOwl, color me fascinated.?
